Geeks in action: Project proposal form

This form has been replaced by a Google form here

Replies to this post will be added to the project pool from which participants decide on projects at the retreat. Everyone who attends MUST submit at least one project idea and pitch it at the retreat (along with the skills that they can offer).

Criteria for projects have been reduced to

1. One team sets about creating a geek treasure hunt for the participants. On the last day the whole retreat breaks into teams and does the hunt

Initial (now defunct) form and criteria:

  • Project title:
  • What is the goal of this project?
  • Do you have any previous experience doing anything similar before?
  • What kinds of people do you think will be needed to work on the project at the GR?
  • How does this project respond to the requirements for Geeks-in-action projects? (see below)
  • How will you ensure that the results of the project are accessible after the retreat?
  • As the project lead, what do you think you'll need to do ensure success by the end of the GR?

Criteria:

  • Project must be something that can be achieved in a three-day period. Project leads should work with other organisations to host the project results or show that they can integrated the results in the work that they already do.
  • End result must be user-centered, open to all (licensed under a Creative Commons license), responding to a local problem around diversity, empowerment and/or collaboration in South Africa Internet/technology space.
