What you said about the GeekRetreat

...after six months of contemplation.

Patrick Kayton, Cognition 'Geekretreat kicked off an epic year for Barry and I and for Cognician. We were hesitant to bring Cognician out of stealth to the crowd in Stanford. Looking back now that seems ridiculous. The warmth, positivity and highly constructive criticism we received gave us no end of confidence to take Cognician into the wild. There were no threats there. Just friends in the making who were keen to help. And that spirit of generosity and collaboration has a strong lure, which keeps pulling all the people who experienced it back together. If a company could harness the kind of energy with which Geekretreat alumni exchange ideas, they'd have nothing to fear from competition. I can barely keep track of all the amazing proposals that the community has thrown into the mail mix in the last few weeks for what we should do at the next retreat. Whatever it is, the experience will be a maelstrom of compassion and intellect and if we get it right, I'm sure we'll build something really great!'

Paul Furber, ITWeb Journalist 'Changed my thinking entirely. Geek Retreat prompted me to really look at what I was doing with my long term career. It's inspired me to change the world for the better, something I will be doing full time eventually.'

Rob Stokes, Quirk eMarketing 'The 2010 GeekRetreat was a truly mind opening experience for all involved. Heather Ford and her team managed to bring a host of varied people to Stanford with a common purpose: learn from each other and begin to change the world. I think the event was a real success on both counts and I sincerely hope to be a part of the future of this great initiative.'

Andy Volk, Downtempo "fantastic minds, diverse perspectives, and the attendees evidently have almost no need for sleep."

Steve Vosloo, The Shuttleworth Foundation/m4lit 'The Geek Retreat was fantastic ... the perfect blend of interactive workshops and presentations, break-away group sessions and socialising. I made great connections with fellow Geek Retreaters, learned about what they did and got to brainstorm -- in a way that actually worked -- on some very cool projects. I'll be back!'
